Natalie’s Beauty: Here’s a wonderful, heartwarming story Natalie tells of her beautiful Potsy, which began 5 years ago when Natalie "rescued her as a stray in labor!": "She stopped breathing and her heartbeat stopped with the 3rd kitten 2/3 out during the litter birth and I literally had to call 911 for help saving babe and mom and they transferred me to a vet emergency line that talked me through all of it -- and two years later she saved my life literally after we heard from neighbors later she had been crying and moaning trying to get someone’s attn for 2-1/2 days and the apt neighbors just thought she was being an annoying neighbor, but she sensed the urgency on the 3rd day and started beating her head against my forehead, woke me up -- I had fallen with my walker on top of me and was unconscious from hitting my head -- long enough for me to call 911 with the phone that was hanging around my neck and to open the door with the electronic door opener also around my neck and then I went unconscious again. By the time the EMTs got me to the hospital I was in a coma and stayed that way for 2-1/2 weeks, but had I not gotten to the hospital at the hour I did, they were sure I would never have waked up (of course, they weren’t sure I would for the 2-1/2 weeks). I was in the hospital then for a month.
A friend called a local TV station after I came home from coma hospitalization and the station called me to get permission to come out to do a feature story on Potsy saving my life. When the reporter and cameraman with BIG tape came, Potsy immediately ran under the bed and stayed there the whole time the camera was there, so the cameraman had to get on the bedroom floor and take a pic of her under the bed! They referred in the report to her as the ‘reluctant hero’. I also plan to write a children’s book about the story of both life savings, and about how special Potsy is. It’s been an eventful and codependent 5 years Potsy and I have had."
Oh my goodness, but you and Potsy surely do have an amazing history together, which naturally makes for a very special bond between you two! What she did to try and get your neighbors’ attention, and to go to the extremes she did to try and wake you up, is just amazing! What a nasty fall, and to be unconscious for almost 3 days...and then to be in a coma for such a long time....wow....she saved your life! We’re so glad everything turned out o.k., thanks to Potsy, and the good people at the hospital! We’ve heard some life-saving pet/human stories before, but yours and Potsy’s story is just very special! The fact that you saved HER life while she was giving birth....well, we think she was just trying to repay you (how kind of you to provide her with a forever warm and loving home) :-) So heartwarming all the way around!! One special kitty for sure!! We think you two were fated to be together. Such a great story!
